Not recommended for light weight subs.ĪA#5 - tends to throw flyers but very quiet Trail boss- good for lighter grain subs, can work for heavy subs but requires almost a full case and a very compressed load.Īlliant Red Dot - Works well for heavy subs, but very extreme spread for lighter grain subs. Powders that clearly work and have been tested thoroughly be AAC. This may be ongoing and won't necessarily be complete for a while. If you see something not right let me know, by also giving supporting reasoning. I may add notes to the original Post to each powder, with the understanding that sometimes what works for one gun combo may not work for another gun combo. This will not be for specific loads, although some may be listed, but will be broken down for supersonic powders, subsonic powders, powders that work for both, as well subsonic powders for bolt action and single shot, and may be broken down more as things progress. It is a beginning and the list will be adjusted and or modified as things progress. So this is going to be a List of powders that can be used in the 300 blk. Often powders that are way to slow to be used effectively in the 300 blk. They are constantly asking about powders. Feel free to email me with any direct questions. There tends to be a lot of newer 300 blk owners, and re-loaders joining lately, and I believe that will continue to grow. Iv never had an issue with a gun cycling with or without a can. For me 4227 gave me the best reliability in subs. I got a friend running the 1680 with them and he said hes at 11gr hoverin at the 1000fps mark. If u end up liking them i got 40lbs of em id sale you. I tried to run em a little deeper to alleviate that problem. Another thing k realized with those super heavy bullets was if i loaded a mag to max capacity the rounds would nose dive pretty bad inside the mag. Some of my friends have had horrible luck some have had no issues. I stopped using those bullets because they would only feed well most of time amd i wanted 100% reliability. I run 10.2gr 4227 with sierra 220gr and nosler custom comp 220s. I use imr 4227 for subsonic in all of my blackout guns. I have a bit of experience with your 245gr bullets but not with those powders. 300 Blackout is a useless cartridge, feel free to spout off, however, I am unlikely to respond. Putting this in the rifle forum even though technically I'm planning to use it in a pistol (legally speaking). 300 Blackout, but I've also read that it doesn't always give full function eg bolt hold-open. I've read a lot of people use Lil'Gun for. Hogdon's Web site doesn't list loads for 245gr bullets, though they do list data for 230gr bullets that I could work up from. For example, Hogdon CFE BLK is apparently made for this exact use, but I have seen very little data on it. Before I make that investment, I wanted to do a gut check and ask if there's a different powder I should get instead. Nobody locally sells that powder, so I'd need to pay hazmat, meaning I'll buy several pounds to spread out that cost. I've seen good results in YouTube videos using Accurate 1680. Economical (ie I'd rather use a 12-grain load than an 18-grain load)īut if you have a great load for my other bullets, subsonic or supersonic, I'm interested in hearing that also. No excess pressure or excess wear on the brass caseĤ. Fully cycles and operates the gun, including bolt hold open after firing last roundĢ. Goal is to use the 245gr bullets for a subsonic load in the AR pistol that:ġ. I have H110, 2400, 3031, Unique and various other powders (but no others I think would be useful for. 30-30, and 110gr plated bullets I bought for. I have dies, a box of coated 245gr cast bullets from Missouri Bullets, 165-173gr jacketed bullets I bought mainly for.
